Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, then allow it to cool.

Finely grind the walnuts in a food processor.

In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one by one, mix well after each. Sift the flour and baking powder into the bowl, and mix until smooth. Fold the ground walnuts into the batter.

Spread half of the cake batter into a greased, parchment-lined baking tin. Pipe a layer of caramel over the batter. Place banana slices and chopped walnuts over the caramel. Spread the remaining cake batter evenly over the filling. You can use plastic wrap to smooth it out if needed. Top with thin banana slices

Place the banana cake in a preheated oven at 175°C (347°F). Bake for 30-40 minutes. Keep an eye on the baking time, as ovens can vary. Let the cake cool.

Once cooled, garnish with thin lines of caramel and chopped walnuts. Slice the cake into equal pieces.
