Easy

Time to roll up those sleeves and make some serious cheesy-meaty goodness! You’ll start by kneading dough—don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it sounds (plus, your hands will smell like fresh bread after). The minced meat is getting a flavor bomb of spices, and then there’s cheese… lots of cheese. Layer it up, bake, and boom—soft, golden buns that’ll have everyone coming back for more. Pro tip: Make extra unless you want a riot in the kitchen!

Tips

You can find our own cheese sauce recipe here.

Ensure the milk isn’t too hot (maximum 37°C), as high temperatures can kill the yeast and prevent the dough from rising properly.

Let the dough rise in a warm place, such as an oven set to a maximum of 30°C or near a heat source. Cover the bowl to prevent drying out.

Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper if you prefer less spice, or use red bell pepper powder instead.

Make sure the ground meat is fully cooked, crumbly, and free of excess moisture.

Add salt to taste.

Stappenplan

1

Add the lukewarm milk, honey, and yeast to a deep bowl. Mix well.

2

Add the beaten egg, sunflower oil, all-purpose flour, and salt. Knead until smooth. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm spot or until it has doubled in size.

3

Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat, salt, cayenne powder, onion powder, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 8-9 minutes until the meat is fully cooked. Let it cool.

4

Deflate the dough and divide it into 9 equal pieces. Shape into balls.

5

Roll each ball into a flat circle.

6

Place baking rings on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Lay the dough over the baking rings and press it down to cover the inside.

7

Fill each baking ring with a layer of the meat mixture. Place slices of Cheddar cheese on top, then add another layer of meat. Sprinkle grated cheese over the top.

8

Let the dough rise for 30 minutes or until they double in size.

9

Optionally, garnish the meat buns with cheese sauce if you like.
